Low carb “Yogurt” and Why You Want to Eat It

Yogurt has a surprising number of carbs, which totally sucks because it is one thing that I don’t mind eating for breakfast. This low carb yogurt recipe is a richer, yummier version of “yogurt” as far as I am concerned and it is perfect when you need to do a fat fast.

For this recipe you’ll need: sour cream, sugar free sweetener, vanilla extract, and almonds.

What’s a fat fast, you ask?
Some of us are more resistant to losing weight than others. I have nearly zero metabolism because of not having a thyroid and I can tell you that the medication just isn’t a perfect substitute. So, when you are having trouble getting into ketosis OR you have plateaued then a fat fast can get you jump starte

Basically it is exactly what it sounds like. You eat mostly fat and minimal amounts of protein you also need to stay under 1,000 calories a day. This is not a long term plan, and you should only do it for 3-5 days at most. Usually I only need a day or two to get things started again.

You’d think you’d be starving but you really are satiated because of the amount of fat you are eating. You eat four 250 calorie mini meals, or you can break it down into five 200 calorie ones. 90% percent of the calories should come from fat.

Low Carb Yogurt With Almonds

On a happy note, what other time in your life can you get away with eating things like cream cheese, whipped cream, and bacon?

This “yogurt” is made from sour cream, your favorite sweetener, and vanilla or maple flavoring. It is pretty much all fat. It fits into the fat fast really well. Macadamia nuts are a good substitute for the almonds. It might sound a little weird but really, try it. I find that it cuts cravings really fast.

Here is more information about the fat fast.

I use sour cream as a way for me to eat my chia seeds for the day. I sprinkle them over sour cream and stir it up and eat it. It’s so good, I don’t even mess with sweeteners.

  2. I’ve been making this for years! It is my go to when I need something sweet. My family thought I was weird. Nope, just ahead of my time!

Are these Atkins induction friendly recipes. I am wondering what I could use to substitute for the nuts? This sounds so good

    1. Macadamia nuts, cream cheese on celery, cream cheese on pork rinds, avocado, coffee with cream, bacon, bacon, bacon.. diet coke with heavy cream, diet root beer with heavy cream….Eat the minimum you can without feeling hungry.

I just made this and then horked it down like a starving woman at an ice cream buffet.

As I was making it, I told my friend, Nikki, that you had lost your mind — that there was no way sour cream could taste like yogurt. I should’ve known better. You made zucchini taste like apples.

My mind is blown. I can’t tell you how excited I am to have this in my recipe box!!!!! I crushed strawberries into it and now I’m thinking about all the things you can add to switch it up.

    Genius. You. Are. A. Genius.
