What sides go with Swiss Steak?

I like to serve this Swiss Steak recipe with a salad but if you feel the need for traditional mashed potatoes, then make some mashed cauliflower with lots of butter and a little cheddar cheese like in this low carb cauliflower mash recipe. This would also be great with our keto faux mac and cheese recipe.

Other sides I love to make are brussels sprouts. The heartiness they have make them a great compliment to this beef recipe. Here’s a great recipe for brussels sprouts with lots of yummy cheese. Keto approved !

Always season your steak (and beef in general) generously before you put it in to cook. One of the biggest mistakes people make is the lack of seasoning on their food. It doesn’t have to be all salt. Try lemon zest, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, and I’ve even drizzled on a little worcestershire sauce. The spices work in tandem with a little salt to bring flavor to the steak to a higher level.

Can you freeze Swiss Steak?

One way I stay on the keto track is to make a huge amount of something like this Swiss Steak and then freeze it in single serving packages. That way I have a keto meal that is ready whenever I need it. Think of it as being your own personal chef! You can also make your life much easier as this is a slow cooker Swiss Steak recipe. Pop everything in your Instant Pot and go about the rest of your day, no need to spend hours in the kitchen.

What do you serve with crockpot swiss steak?

Wine doesn’t have a lot of carbs but your body will burn the alcohol before it starts back to burning the fat. It doesn’t stall me if I only have a couple of glasses a week but any more than that and I get out of ketosis and have to get myself back to a keto lifestyle.

What kind of steak is Swiss Steak made from?

Swiss Steak comes from the top or bottom round steak. It is a more economical cut of beef than say a top sirloin steak. Swiss Steak is usually tougher so they call it “Swiss” because they use a machine called a “Swisser” that tenderizes the beef steak with these cube shaped dents. Kind of like the marks on a salisbury steak we had as kids. But that is not really a steak, it’s just ground beef formed into the shape of a steak and usually served with a brown gravy or mushroom gravy.

Slow cooked keto goodness !

By using your Instant pot or pressure cooker, this instant pot Swiss steak will come out tender and juicy. This won’t work well (I don’t think) in an air fryer as it won’t pressure cook everything under pressure which lets the meat stay tender and soak up all the flavor of the beef broth sauce.

The next time you are going to spend the day at the pool throw this Instant pot recipe together before you head out the door. When you come home your house will smell delightful and you won’t be grabbing at junk foods because you are starving.
